When people ask what I do, I say “Occupational Medicine.” The next question is usually, “What is Occupational Medicine — do you do hand therapy?” I explain that I help people who are injured at work and find themselves navigating the Workers’ Compensation system. My clinic practice focuses on restoring function for those with serious injuries, but I can see anyone with an open workers’ compensation claim. Many of my patients are recovering from surgery, though I also treat non-surgical and pre-surgical injuries.I often explain that workers’ compensation is not like regular health insurance — it’s a unique legal and administrative process that must be carefully navigated. A common challenge is that even medical providers don’t understand the system. Sometimes the most valuable role I play is simply helping hardworking people understand the process so they can recover, return to work and get back to living their lives. If you need help with a work injury or guidance through the workers’ compensation process, please reach out for an appointment. We’re here to help.
