After residency, I embarked on a career as a hospitalist, initially in Billings, Montana where I remained based while also working temporarily as a general practitioner in rural New Zealand. I eventually moved home to Vermont and joined the hospitalist group at Central Vermont Medical Center. As I gained experience, I discovered a special interest in palliative care and was fortunate to get an opportunity to complete a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. I subsequently joined the palliative care team.In palliative care, I have the privilege of talking with people every day about what makes life good, about what matters most to them. I aim to understand their values and, with that information, serve as a guide as they navigate serious illness. I want to ensure that a person’s medical care makes their life better. Outside of work, I like to get outside and be with my family. I have been working for years on restacking an old rock wall.
